ESCEM and
STMicroelectronics have signed a partnership
agreement to create a Business Intelligence
Chair. Drawing on its expertise in the area,
developed in particular through the creation
of ATELIS (Strategic Intelligence Workshop)
in 2003, ESCEM has decided to make business
intelligence a major focus of its development
strategy and a decisive factor in its positioning
on the highly-competitive European business
school market. The new direction encompasses
all of the Group´s missions, from initial
training to continuing training, research
and studies.
To implement its strategy under the best conditions, ESCEM has chosen to join forces with a company that is a major national force, with deep commitment to business intelligence initiatives and the desire to embark on the creation of a Business Chair responsible for coordinating all initiatives undertaken by the school in this area: ST Microelectonics will contribute € 150 000 to financing the Chair.
ESCEM´s first business chair
Determined to develop business intelligence skills, which have become vital for understanding and bringing forth an organisation in an increasingly global business environment, ESCM is launching a business intelligence chair with ST Microelectronics. The Chair, offering resources both human (students and professors) and technological, is intended to develop avenues for research on the topic, as well as carry out field studies and implement continuing training projects.
ESCEM will provide STMicroelectronics with strong support in implementing its business intelligence strategy:
by involving students in the work and projects guided by STMicroelectronics,
by mobilising researchers from the school on the areas more specifically focused on STMicroelectronics´areas of concern
by offering STMicroelectronics employees special conditions that make it easier to access the continuing training initiatives implemented by ESCEM.
Why STMicroelectronics ?
STMicrolectronics leads the market in manufacturing and selling semi-conductor products. It designs, develops, produces and markets a wide variety of integrated circuits and electronic components based on semi-conductor materials used in a wide variety of applications. By sponsoring the Business Intelligence Chair established at ESCEM, STMicroelectronics will enjoy an excellent opportunity to diversify its resources and the expertise it requires to develop its innovation strategy. This is also the opportunity to further develop the cooperation already underway with ESCEM, under the competitiveness hub programme, “Electrical Engineering Sciences and Systems”, steered by ST Microelectronics in the Centre Region.
The Chair´s establishment was officialised at business intelligence conference “Rencontres Intelligence Economique”, hosted by Atelis, ESCEM´s business intelligence network, the Touraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and IHEDN, on 30 November 2005, at ESCEM. Alain Juillet, national head of business intelligence for the Prime Minister and Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Senator for the Vienne Department and former Prime Minister, spoke at the conference, attended by nearly 250 people.
Atelis' purpose is to enable, as part of the school´s general educational mission, the implementation of research (academic and applied) actions, studies, consulting and training, in the field of strategic and business intelligence. ATELIS has set up a quality procedure on its services to companies and an AFAV skills certificate in value-based business intelligence management, to certify the knowledge and expertise vital for successful BSI projects gained by students and company managers during their training at ESCEM.
